The Dubai Boating Festival will be held over two days on 24th and 25th October 2010 and visitors can view some of the best luxury yachts and boats from around the region. For experienced sailors the event will feature a sailing competition to test people’s technical skills and ability. In addition, families and children can enter into a number of races including model boats, dragon boats and dinghy racing. The helicopter rescue and fire fighting teams will also be putting on dramatic displays for spectators and people can even see how boats are built through live demonstrations on each day. In addition, InterContinental Dubai Festival City, Festival Centre and Island Global Yachting are organising a unique race for visitors to help raise awareness of recycling in the city. Teams of four are being invited to construct their own vessel made entirely out of plastic bottles and recycled materials and then compete in the Whatever Floats Your Boat race. Visitors to the UAE staying in hotels in Dubai should head to the Festival Marina within Dubai Festival City which is a collection of homes, shops and offices on the waterfront. Event organisers have also prepared a special event to support the Little Wings Foundation. The floating wheelchair race will be held within the Festival Centre’s indoor canal and teams are encouraged to enter and raise as many funds as possible for the organisation which helps children with special needs. ### About DirectRooms
