Which Yankee Will Get the Boot First?

The Internet's largest sports betting site, PinnacleSports.com has created odds on which New York Yankee will be the first to leave the organization this season by being traded, released or fired or resigning. Although he's orchestrated several key trades and signings that are responsible for the team's recent success, Yankee General Manager Brian Cashman has been made a 4/1 favorite to be the first to feel the wrath of "King George."

Starting pitcher Kevin Brown, who hasn't won a start since last August and has drawn the ire of Yankee fans, as well as members of the New York media, is listed as a close second at 5/1 odds. Having already indicated this will be his final season in pinstripes, PinnacleSports.com has listed pitching coach Mel Stottlemyre at 13/2 odds to be the first Yankee to leave the organization. PinnacleSports.com has listed the odds of Yankee skipper Joe Torre being the first to leave the organization at only 10/1 despite having a contract that runs through the 2007 season.

Following an injury-plagued season with a winter full of steroid allegations, Jason Giambi ( 15/1 ) is still not performing on the field and may be on his way out of New York. Although a beloved Yankee, hitting coach Don Mattingly ( 20/1 ) is also a viable candidate to get his walking papers or leave the organization. Yankee closer Mariano Rivera has had a sub-par start to the season but remains a 30/1 long shot to bear the brunt of the blame for the team's woes. PinnacleSports.com has also created a betting option that all of the listed players, coaches and front office personnel remain with the team throughout the regular season which is listed at 10/11 odds.
