Three Taiwan TV networks choose Alcatel for microwave radio solutions that will enable future digital services
The Alcatel MDR-8000 solution comprises 35 links of high-speed ( 45 Mbps ) digital microwave radios that will enable PTS, FTV and TTV to support High Resolution Television programs by upgrading their infrastructures from analogue to digital, improving data transmission and quality of service. This solution is particularly well adapted for the remote mountainous area of the country where other data transport options are neither physically nor financially viable.

The Alcatel MDR 8000 Microwave Digital Radio is a highly reliable and scalable platform that has the potential to reduce operating expenses and can also adapt quickly to meet unforeseen capacity requirements. It is rapidly deployed and easily managed through a simple PC interface.

Adam Yang, Director of Engineering Department, PTS, noted, "Our strong desire to provide the highest possible quality of service to our viewers motivated our decision to go with the Alcatel MRD-8000. Alcatel's advanced wireless backbone networks and end-to-end solutions enable us to better plan for the future and quickly deploy new broadcast television services in Taiwan."

"Given that these three major television networks account for 60% of the total market in Taiwan, this win establishes Alcatel as the leader in providing microwave radio transmission solutions to the TV market," remarked Alcatel Taiwan CSO Roc Jih.
